WALL TREATMENT:
Parisian Atelier is about creating an elegant architectural backdrop with subtle drama. Choose one of the recommended paint colors in a high-gloss finish to give the walls a soft, sophisticated appearance.
For added depth, use one of the recommended wallcoverings as a feature wall behind the bed. For a more unexpected designer approach, keep the walls painted and carry the wallcovering onto the ceiling, creating a dramatic detail that draws the eye upward. If your room has existing molding or architectural trim, allow those details to remain visible and become part of the design.
FURNITURE PLACEMENT:
Let the bed anchor the room and build the furniture arrangement around it. Place a bench at the foot of the bed to create a tailored, finished composition and provide a functional place to sit. In a corner of the room, create an intimate reading moment with a comfortable accent chair, a small side table, and a floor or table lamp. Allow enough space around each piece so the room feels collected and effortless rather than overly furnished.
RUG SCALE:
Choose a generously scaled rug—ideally a 9′ x 12′ or 10′ x 15′, depending on the size of the room and bed. The rug should extend well beyond both sides and the foot of the bed, with the nightstands sitting within the rug area whenever possible. The goal is to create one luxurious foundation that visually connects the bed, nightstands, and bench rather than using a smaller rug that appears to float beneath the bed.
LIGHTING:
Treat the chandelier as the jewelry of the room. Because of its scale and presence, center it within the room to create a dramatic focal point. Add decorative wall sconces behind or on either side of the bed to frame the headboard and create a beautiful architectural moment. Layer in bedside table lamps and a reading lamp near the accent chair. Using multiple sources of soft, warm light creates the sexy, romantic ambiance that makes this bedroom feel distinctly Parisian.
ART + ACCESSORIES:
Mix contemporary art and sculptural objects with the room’s more classic Parisian influences. Keep bedside styling intentional and edited, layering books, ceramics, objects, and personal pieces that feel collected over time rather than purchased as a matching set.
